The Hollow Marker: What We Actually Found

The marker itself is unremarkable — standard cast iron, the kind used decades ago to mark old survey lines. What isn't standard is the inside.

Someone hollowed it out by hand, long before we found it. Inside: a folded strip of metal foil, etched rather than printed, in a pattern that repeats but never quite identically. Eleven scavengers have photographed it. No two photographs agree on the exact spacing of the etching.

We are not claiming this is anything. We are only saying: it should not do that.

Some artifacts do not explain themselves. They only ask better questions.
